Eating disorders can be one of the most difficult mental disorders to work through, but there is hope for everyone. If you’re working with any of the eating disorder services Pennsylvania has to offer, here are a few things you deserve to remember.

You Are Beautiful

Everybody in the world deserves to love themselves, and you are no exception. As a person, you are worthy of self-respect, confidence and happiness regardless of what you look like. Your appearance is only a part of your identity, and you are the only person allowed to set the standards for how you should look. No matter your age, size, body type, ethnicity or health status, you are beautiful and worthy of acceptance.

Your Body Is Natural

The human body is a powerful machine; you’re performing countless processes right now without even realizing it. As a result of the hard work your body is constantly doing, it’s going to change all throughout your life. Not only is it natural for the human body to be imperfect, it’s normal and totally okay. What’s more, perfection is defined differently by everybody, and you are not required to live by someone else’s definition.

Your Journey Does Not Have to Be Linear

Throughout the healing process, you’ll probably experience a lot of ups and downs, and that’s to be expected. You are recovering from a disorder that affects many aspects of your life, and overcoming does not happen overnight. It’s okay if you have moments of relapse, struggle with negative thoughts or need constant support and reassurance. No matter how your journey has changed, what matters at the end of the day is that you recognize what’s happening and keep trying to improve your well-being.

No matter what you’re going through, it’s okay to love yourself. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help, and remember to treat yourself with kindness as often as you can.
